Common questions

What is PingUp?

PingUp lets you reach someone with a single tap. Instead of typing a message, you pick a short preset — "I miss you," "Call me," "Thinking of you" — and pick a person. They get a warm nudge that you're thinking of them, and can Ping you back.

When does it launch?

We're building it now, with iPhone first. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the moment it's ready — that's the only email you'll get from us before launch.

Will there be an Android version?

Not at launch. We're focused on getting the iPhone experience right first. Android is something we want to do, but we won't promise a date we can't stand behind.

Does it cost anything?

Sending Pings to the people you care about is free. We may add optional extras later — things like custom messages or effects — but the core of staying in touch won't sit behind a paywall.

Can people tell when I've read a Ping?

No. We don't store read receipts and we don't plan to. Nobody sees whether you've opened a Ping, so there's no pressure to reply on anyone else's schedule. It's the whole point of the app.

What do notifications actually show?

By default a push says only that you have a Ping — no sender, no message. If you'd rather see more, you can switch it to show the sender, or the sender and the message. That choice is yours and it sticks.

Do you upload my contacts?

Only if you grant contacts permission, and only to show you which of your contacts already use PingUp. You can decline, or turn it off later in your iPhone settings — PingUp still works, you'll just add friends manually. Our Privacy Policy covers this in detail.

I found a bug, or I have an idea.

Please send it to support@sendpings.com. For bugs, your device model and iOS version help a lot. Feature ideas genuinely shape what gets built next — this is a small team.

Deleting your account

You can remove yourself from PingUp at any time, and you never have to email us to do it. What that looks like depends on where you are today:

If you're on the waitlist

The only thing we hold is your email address. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, which removes you. To be deleted immediately instead, email support@sendpings.com from the address you signed up with and we'll take care of it.

If you have a PingUp account

Open the app and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. You'll be asked to confirm, and then it's done — no waiting on us.

Deleting removes your profile, your username, your profile picture, your friends list, and your Ping history. Pings you sent will no longer appear in your history. Within 7 days your personal information is deleted or anonymized on our servers, apart from anything we're legally required to keep.

This can't be undone. If you can't reach the setting for any reason, email support@sendpings.com from your account's email address and we'll handle it for you.

Safety and reporting

PingUp is meant to feel good to open. If someone is harassing you, spamming you, or making you uncomfortable, report it to support@sendpings.com and we'll look into it. Include usernames and roughly when it happened if you can.

Our Terms of Service set out what isn't allowed. We can restrict or remove accounts that break those rules.

Still stuck?

Write to us directly. A person reads it.
